Corporate Communications is part and parcel of HR responsibilities, and normally HR uses the traditional way of communicating thru bulletin boards, memorandums, newsletters and intranet. But rarely would I notice companies who maintain a blog to communicate and touch base with employees.
What is a blog?
A blog is short term for web blog, or online diary. Companies can use this for purposes of announcement and solicit opinion of employees. A company can maximize it’s use by also tapping the potential of podcasts (audio blogs) of vlogging (video blogs) for follow thrus of training and orientation.
To embark on this project would entail good preparation. The HR Manager, first and foremost, should appreciate the potential of blogs and social networking services, plus an equally supportive IT who understand WordPress and SEO. For purposes of brand management, it is better for the company blog to have it’s own domain. And of course, get the best web hosting service to ensure that the site will have no downtime. Blog can also earn passively, thus, expenses on the domain and hosting can be covered.
It’s about time for HR practitioners to use the available e-tools to carry out it’s responsibilities. What do you think?
